Who are Acumen Strategic Partners?

Acumen Strategic Partners are a British personal development community and network marketing program founded and pre-launched in the United Kingdom in the Summer of 2025 by network marketing investor, coach and field-trainer Phil Col-Cluff. At the present time, Acumen Strategic Partners operate solely in the United Kingdom.

Why does Acumen Strategic Partners exist?

What is meant by "Cashback Protocol"?

As you’re probably aware, many companies across the United Kingdom have created “recommend-a-friend” programs in order to encourage their existing customers to refer new customers by word of mouth. As you can imagine, as a wholly independent community of entrepreneurs, this really does speak our kind of language. These include credit card companies, the banks, many of the energy providers amongst many others. Just by way of example, let’s imagine you are an Octopus Energy customer, and (as my Sponsor) you share your Octopus Energy affiliate link with me. When I follow your affiliate link and become a customer also, Octopus will assign a £50 word-of-mouth bonus to your account (£50 in free energy essentially), as a thank you for winning a new customer, and they’ll also assign a £50 word-of-mouth bonus to my account as the new customer. We refer to this as a “double-sided” cashback commission.

In this simple example, in return for attracting me as a new customer, between us we’ve managed to extract £100 in free energy from the bank vault of an energy companies’ affiliate program. Energy that we would both otherwise have to have paid cash for of course, and the economy of our community has effectively risen by £100. And of course, I, as the new Octopus customer, now possess my own word-of-mouth affiliate link to replicate this word-of-mouth customer acquisition process, through my growing Acumen Strategic Partners’ team, in principle through an unlimited number of referrals.

Our initial goal is a simple one: to deploy our “word-of-mouth” affiliate links as part of our new Team Partner Getting Started Protocols to ultimately off-set the cost of joining the business to begin with! Essentially, the act of joining pays as much as the cost of joining. A “chicken and egg” concept we refer to as the Cashback Protocol.

How much does it cost to get involved?

The Acumen Strategic Partners’ Team Partner Agreement carries a one-time peer-to-peer Partner Support Fee of £200 (paid directly in real-time to a member of your Upward Support Team in line with our Partner Income Plan), plus a £5 a month (+ VAT) administration and renewal fee. This modest support fee funds the provision of your Team Partner web-portal, our I.T. and web-hosting, our Partner Support Department and the general running of the Corporate Office. The Independent Team Partner Distributorship and Agreement elapses and renews without obligation at the end of each successive calander month from your original joining date, with the Agreement subject to a Continuous Payment Authority (CPA), via Direct Debit, unless cancelled in writing prior to any monthly renewal date. This administration and renewal fee becomes payable from the beginning of month two in the business.

What do I get when I join?

We really should begin with the invaluable one-on-one support you’ll recieve from your Sponsor and Upward Support Team, particularly in the early stages of your new business. This will include a common sense getting started training (your Team Partner induction training will take around 2 hours), plus a host of practical training and advice including working together in the field over several weeks. Your Sponsor and Upward Support Team are incentivised to fulfill this function and to help you quickly drive the roots deep. Your success is their success.

You’ll gain immediate access to our community personal development library, access to our live online trainings, in-person business-building events, day-to-day telephone support from your Sponsor and Upward Support Team, plus a fully-functioning Team Partner back-office, real-time genealogy and more. The Principle of Leverage

Leverage in network marketing occurs when a few people share an idea with a few people, who share the idea with a few more people in turn and so on. By building a multi-generational team in this fashion, you increase your earning potential exponentially, as you’re paid on the collective output of your entire organisation, not just your own efforts.

The Principle of Residual Income

Residual income in network marketing is the royalty-type income you continue to earn based upon the one-time effort you invest to begin with. When you think about it, there are very few businesses or industries today that pay residual income. Musicians, authors, and successful insurance salespeople are a few examples of professions that do earn pretty powerful residual incomes. You put the effort in once and reap the rewards for months and years to come! Moreover, the Principle of Residual Income is critically important in the network marketing business because it synchronises with the Principle of Leverage. When these two powerful Principles occur together, we refer to it as a Leveraged, Residual Income.

The Principle of Dynamic Scale

Dynamic Scale refers to the idea of guiding progressively greater units of recurring purchases through your growing community of Team Partners. So not only is your organisation growing in terms of its raw number of Team Partners (leverage), not only is it creating a residual stream of income (through the residual activity across time of that growing community of Team Partners), but it’s also scaling that leveraged residual to ever great heights through progressively greater team-wide recurring purchases and sales of additional third-party products and services (essentially increasing the average team-wide unit of sale).

In that rare business where all three Principles occur simultaneously, we refer to this as a Dynamically Scaled, Leveraged, Residual Income. Running together, these initial three key principles offer up an ultra-powerful way to kick start your new career and get your income off the ground fast!

The Principle of Peer-to-Peer Income

The key point to appreciate from the outset is Acumen Strategic Partners operate entirely as a peer-to-peer, member-to-member community. As such, all commission is paid immediately, member-to-member in real time on a transaction by transaction basis. Acumen Strategic Partners holds no central repository of commissionable funds and simply charges a modest fee for it’s services. New Team Partners are directed by the system to pay 100% of the commissionable element of their Distributorship fee (referred to as our Partner Support Fee) directly to a member of their upline in accordance with our Partner Income Plan. Distributorship fees are made in line with the upline Team Partner’s preferred method of receipt. This is usually a simple online bank-to-bank transfer but can also include an online payment processor such as Paypal or Stripe, and even Crypto.

The Principle of Holacracy

Holacracy is the innovative method of decentralised management and organisational governance we employ at Acumen Strategic Partners and provides a context for the four income principles we’ve covered thus far. In a Holacracy, authority and decision making are distributed through local, self-organising teams rather than being vested in a conventional management hierarchy. Instead of operating as a hierarchical pyramid, power is decentralised and distributed, giving individuals and local teams more freedom to self-manage, while staying aligned to our core values, mission, corporate identity and purpose.

And it works!

Every Team Partner is paid in accordance with the same income schedule. No Team Partner is superior or sub-ordinate to any other, and each Team Partner is afforded the trust and autonomy to direct their energies in alignment with our ideals. Our aim is to unlock every Team Partner’s full potential in the process, without bureaucracy, office politics or pointless middle management.

How much can I earn and how fast?

Whilst we don’t give income projections, you can do the maths and set your own goals…

Acumen Strategic Partners administrates the payment of commission (£200) on 3rd Tier Independent Distributorship sales. By way of example, this means that when you sponsor Emma (1st Tier), who sponsors Mike (2nd Tier), who sponsors Trevor (3rd Tier), Trevor’s £200 Partner Support Fee transits directly from him to you.

Now, clearly these are just examples to illustrate the depth-orientated dynamics at play. In practice, the word is carried in a much more random or chaotic way, which of course is always the natural order of things as we’re such a diverse body of people and all Team Partners are completely free, of course, to be as active as they wish.

Equality of opportunity and the need for speed is key. Not a silly “get rich quick” type of speed, but an urgency borne of the appeciation that network marketers, particularly those new to the profession, need brisk validation of their often highly emotional decision to join us. Our fast-paced, single tier, peer-to-peer income model achieves just that, unleashing powerful single-tier team leverage and fast income from the outset. Single tier leverage means 100% of the commissionable element (£200) is paid on a single tier (not multiple levels or tiers) thus acting as a universal leveler. No one can sit at the top of an organisation earning lots for not doing much when the organisation rewards all Partners on a single tier of income! This transparent and eminently fair innovation rewards each Partner purely upon merit. Everyone is paid in accordance with the same income schedule. The upshot? And let’s not forget, the above examples only represent the Working With Mentor Model end of the business (principly the purchase and supply of field-based training and on-going Partner support). The bulk of the sales revenue that will ultimately flow through your organisation will occur on the affiliate end of the business over time, in the form of an array of ongoing third-party product partner offers. These include simple affiliate programs, specially negotiated offers, and even other network marketing opportunities (in non-conflicting service areas).

Is any income subject to "clawback"?

Yes.

All Acumen Strategic Partner Distributorships carry a no-quibble 14-day money-back guarantee. This means that both the £5 (+VAT) admin fee and the member-to-member Partner Support Fee are subject to clawback, if a statutory return is requested within 14 days. On the extremely rare occasion this ocurrs, it is for the cancelling Partner to request their refund from either Acumen Strategic Partners and the upline Partner concerned. Acumen Strategic Partners bear no liability with regard to member-to-member refunds.

How could our industry sometimes do better?

  • blatant “pitching” of family and friends and over-selling the opportunity;
  • being perceived as a desperate salesperson;
  • rampant, unprofessional online spamming;
  • being overly-focused upon new people and neglecting existing Team Partners in need of time, encouragement and support;
  • being either inaccurate or resorting to exaggeration when talking about the potential of a network marketing business
  • front-end loading.

Awareness is key and can go a long way to being curative in itself. At Acumen Strategic Partners, we are committed to the highest ethical standards and to raising the bar through our day-to-day example.

How is Acumen Strategic Partners' innovating?

Learning how to do something well, before we begin doing it makes sense in most endeavours, especially when it involves one’s livelihood. If you know you want to own or operate a successful business someday, you’re likely to seek out some training in the business concerned, or somehow become educated in the type of business you wish to operate in.

This is pretty obvious, right?

If your goal was to become a plumber, you would first enter an apprenticeship. If your goal was to become a doctor you would first enter a university hospital as an under-graduate. If your goal was to join the priesthood, you would first enter a seminary!

So, why do so many network marketers do exactly the opposite? In fact, when you think about it, ours must be the only profession where you’re typically asked to start your business first, and only then begin the process of learning how to successfully operate it! To all at Acumen Strategic Partners, this is mixed-up thinking of the most elementary level.

Industry veterans have seen this happen more times than they care to remember. A new Team Partner enters the profession gung-ho, lets their enthusiasm get the better of them, goes about the business in completely the wrong fashion, and then a few months later they are gone.

What could have gone so wrong?

Most of the time, the momentum and excitement that motivated them to enrol to begin with didn’t last because they didn’t gain immediate access to the breadth of training and support required and critically, they couldn’t work out how to make money anywhere near quickly enough to keep them in the business long term.

All too typically, they got on a few calls with their upline, made a few half-hearted attempts to sponsor others and got shot down quickly (and sometimes brutally). They got discouraged, even scared and quickly fizzled out.
